Salvaged: Seat to Feet
So many of our communities, closets and garages abound with the truth that one man's trash is another's treasure. We've all come across some little gem and thought, this still has life in it, some purpose to serve. And as our earth changes by the year, filling up with consumer goods and unrecycleable debris, I think many of us are feeling more driven to care for what we have, and reimagine what we can.
I found this plain little stool on the street and decided to bring her in out of the rain. After lightly sanding and tightening a few joints, she cleaned up well and I dressed her right down to the toes with extra paint and stain I had around. She invites anyone visiting "to park their little behind here." And as a small addition to a small apartment, she's served me well next to an easel, under an old school desk, and clustered with small tables to create a grouping near the sofa.
I love knowing that this didn't end up in a landfill, and that the paint and scratches which lend so much character are someone else's story that I got to continue telling. Happy salvaging!
